03 Mar Weight Loss Seminars Business Plan

Brushy Mountain Retreat was founded by Judith Cabot, who took over an empty Johnson Mountain College dorm. From there, she began telling women that dieting doesn't work. She started a series intensive, one-week workshops to help women understand the fundamentals of building a long term weight management program. Each workshop could only hold four participants. Brushy Mountain Retreat operated as a summer program through its first years, but as its popularity grew by word of mouth, the program evolved, and quickly became year round.
Brushy Mountain Retreat grew its program to include four consecutive one-week workshops. The workshops can be taken individually or in blocks over the course of nine years. There are now hundreds of alumni. The maximum number of program sessions has increased to 20. The retreat now has six month waiting lists.
Brushy Mountain Retreat is moving into a new location in response to its growth. The new home is an ex-corporate retreat located on a hill overlooking Johnson Ridge Golf Course and Johnson Valley Golf Course. These are some of the most sought after summer and winter resort areas in Connecticut. Set on 16 wooded acres, the lodge offers informal classrooms, well-equipped physical activity rooms, a spacious dining room, and a comfortable common room.
The program workshop enrollment will double in the new facility. There are up to 40 rooms available for women in single and double rooms.
The lease is $80,000 per annum.
The financial investment by Judith Cabot, as well as a short term loan, will help to finance the move into a new facility.
